Where did "Save As" go?

PDFpen uses version saving. Version saving started system wide with macOS 10.8 and is used by many other Mac apps and is a very useful tool.

If you wish to keep versioning enabled, you can perform a 'Save As' by holding down the OPTION ⌥ key when you go to the File menu, and it will switch from 'Save' to 'Save As'.

If you'd like to disable versioning altogether so that Save As is always in the menu, you can do that from the PDFpen preferences.

  1. Select Preferences… from the PDFpen menu. Click on General
  2. Uncheck "Enable autosave and versions" at the bottom of the General preferences

If you have already saved a document with version saving, you can revert back to your original document. To do so, choose Edit > Reset Form. If you cannot find this menu item, go to the Help menu, and type Reset into the search field and that should point you to where it is.
