How can I disable sound notifications on Linux?

To summarize, here's how a Linux user can disable sound.

  1. Go to Win10 computer (presumably any computer with an app but only tested Win10)

  2. If TextExpander app is not installed, install the TextExpander app and log into your account

  3. If TextExpander Chrome extension is not installed, install the TextExpander Chrome extension and log into your account

  4. Click the TextExpander icon in the bottom Windows bar

  5. Click the Preferences button

  6. Uncheck Play Sound

  7. Close window

  8. If Chrome is open, close and re-open it.

  9. Click on TextExpander icon in Chrome

  10. Click on Options

  11. Confirm that Play sounds is not checked

  12. Close Chrome tab

  13. Go to Linux computer

  14. If Chrome is open, close and re-open it.

  15. Click on TextExpander icon in Chrome

  16. Click on Options

  17. Confirm that Play sounds is not checked

  18. Close Chrome tab

  19. Happily use TextExpander without sounds.
